DR BLESSING AMOLE

Dr Blessing Amole hails from Ogbomoso, in Ogbomoso South Local Government Area of Oyo State. He is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Music, Alvan Ikoku Federal University of Education, Owerri, Imo State.

He joined the University as a lecturer in the year 2010. He has since then been teaching and supervising undergraduate programmes. He obtained his NCE in Music/Education of Gifted and Talented at Federal College of Education (Special), Oyo in 2002, with First Class; his first Degree in Music (B.A Music) in 2007 at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife; his Master Degree in African Music (M.A Music) at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State in 2014; and his PhD in Ethnomusicology/Composition in 2020, from Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Dr Blessing Amole has several publications both local and International, several musical compositions for voices and instruments and he has released seven albums both in audio and DVD. He is a multi-instrumentalist with more than 17 personal musical instruments and, he is the founder of Blessamoss Music School and Band. He is a performer, composer, conductor and a director. Dr Blessing Amole is a member of several music associations.

He is a member of Association of Nigerian Musicologist (ANIM); Former Secretary of Society of Music Educators of Nigeria (SOMEN); Member, African Composers; Member, Imo State Music Forum; Member, Church Musicians’ Forum and; Regional Music Workshop facilitator. He has composed more than two hundred (250) songs both in Sacred, Secular, Instrumental, Anthems for Schools and Churches.

His research interest lies in Ethnomusicological Approaches to African Art Music, Composition, Orchestration and Performances.

Dr Blessing Amole is a devout Christian who is happily married with children.
